Palaeoecological reconstruction of Global Environmental changes at the Younger Dryas Onset Czech-American Scientific Cooperation, project of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MEYS),
program Inter-Excellence, sub-program Inter-Action, project no. LTAUSA19141
Duration: November 1, 2019 - December 31, 2022 (38 months)
Project description:
Inter-regional (central Europe and central Alaska) comparison of lacustrine sediment archives of Late-glacial age is a crucial approach to disentangle local and global characteristics of the abrupt environmental changes 12,900 years ago. The joined inter-disciplinary project will provide an improved understanding of the dynamics of the global environmental change at the Younger Dryas onset, consolidate the current scientific collaboration between the Czech (Charles University + Biology Centre of the CAS) and the US team (University of Alaska, Fairbanks), and allow exchange of the state-of the-art methods and approaches.
Lead partners:
Principal investigator: Günther Kletetschka, Institute of Hydrogeology, Engineering Geology and Applied Geophysic, Faculty of Science, Charles University, Prague, Czechia
Co-investigator: Evžen Stuchlík, Institute of Hydrobiology, Biology Centre, Czech Academy of Sciences, České Budějovice, Czechia
Co-operating partner in USA: Nancy Bigelow, University of Alaska, Fairbanks, USA
Stará jímka Paleolake, The Bohemian Forest
Birch Lake, Alaska
Windmill Lake, Alaska
